Dream of Freedom

Dr. Martin Luther King had a dream of equality and freedom for all. Many of our brothers died in oppression before the large portion were set free. Many still pass thier days in the oppressive state of ignorance and poverty. One day all men will be equal at the feet of the Lord, and those who opressed and trod over the spirits of men will be turned away.
This speach will forever live in infamy for Dr. King's dream of freedom. Another message lost in the passage of time to many is that we cannot let our oppression whether we are black, white, or any color blind us with hate to all men. Dr. King suplicated his fellow men to not become enraged with all white men, for many marched with them. This message is lost to many today. Many of those who purport to fight for freedom, do so with bitter words of hatred; divisive words of class warfare. Many men would drive a wedge into the hearts of those who listen to perpetuate hatred and to cement their positions of power.
I too have a dream of a day where the content of a man's character is easily discerned, and the wolves in sheep's clothing are revealed. A day when men are equal at the Lord's feet, and we are brothers in Christ.

The dangers of pendulum politics


As the pendulum swings back and forth in the political arena in America it seems that at each apex it is given a good solid shove in the other direction causing a higher swing in the other direction. This is a dangerous road to travel. If we are not careful we will find out one day that someone has seized the pendulum and it is coming back neither to the middle, nor to the other apex. For this reason we must be careful when we choose idealists to represent us.
One aspect of American politics that is similar to playing with dynamite is the two party system. Here we try to force the gamut of ideas into a dichotomy and by doing so we have not allowed the range of free expression necessary for a flourishing society.  As we allow for new ideas to edge their way into politics we allow pull on the pendulum from every direction. By doing this we can hope for a freer society in which we do not have to worry about the next large swing of the pendulum being the last. We can hope for balance. The public discourse can only benefit from being pulled in a new direction. It is for this reason that our founding fathers gave us the right to free speech. They knew that is would be necessary that the people could speak their mind when the government began to stop representing their interest.
The current system allows for a monopoly on political thought. It awards too much power to far too few people.  The sad truth however is that third parties ruin elections. It is my opinion that the second a third party has the audacity to make a run at public office many parties should do the same. This will allow for the balance that I previously spoke of.
We cannot allow the far left and far right to make all of the decisions for everyone caught in-between. Though many of us favor one side of the spectrum, rarely do we subscribe completely to the foggy ever changing mush that each party calls its platform.
In the mean time vote your conscience. Do not deceive yourself. Think before your believe anything a politician says. Pray for a better tomorrow.

Political Lies and the Socialist Rise

It has become apparent that a large portion of the American public is at best apathetic and skeptical towards the political process. This should come as no surprise to anyone. Politics from the politicians themselves to those that report on it lends itself to distortion and self interested warping of information. People are not stupid contrary to the belief of many of the governing elite. It is for this reason that the founding fathers were willing to leave the fate of the country in the hands of the American people. It has only been over several centuries of slow and minute seizures and surrenders of power that we have arrived at the place we now stand where government is big, and the people’s power is waning.
Thomas Hayes-Morrison a radio host from North Central Florida begins his show with some phrases from the declaration of Independence. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed” He then goes on to paraphrase the subsequent lines by telling us that the consent of the governed can be withdrawn, and that freedom is only lost when we surrender it. We the people of the United States have slowly surrendered our power to the government. We have given up personal responsibility for food stamps and the promise of a tax return. The part that many have not noticed in their apathetic stupor is that to pay for that people are being robbed at gun point.
Radical change rarely succeeds and is often met with resistance, but when you slowly infect a society with ideas through propaganda it is easier to later assert the validity for those ideas. This has been the process for socialist, communist, and fascist propaganda. Slowly since the days of Marx, socialism and communism has be spread through the institutions of higher education throughout the country and by default throughout the high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools through the indoctrination of teachers during their university education. These ideas are in direct conflict with the founding principles of freedom, individual responsibility, and the pursuit of happiness woven into our founding documents.
Slowly by commanding a small portion of ground (Universities) these ideas have found acceptance in our society. It is somewhat baffling that this is the case after a century in which our nation vehemently fought against the dissemination of these ideas with the blood of our young men. We have allowed a small portion of elitists to shape a large portion of the political conversation. Make no mistake. Marxism is not a peaceful theory of communal sharing, but a violent theory for the seizure of governance with the consent of the people. We cannot fail to learn the failures and lies associated with communist and socialist practices from history. These failed ideas crippled Eastern Europe and various other nations around the world. It has taken decades for some of these countries to begin to shake off the damage done. Many of these countries are still struggling due to the desecration of work ethic that comes from removing all reward. If people cannot receive the benefits of their work they will fail to work with the same fervor. This learned lack of work ethic is one of the largest things still separating Europe and the US. For now at least we can keep a large portion of what we earn. Slowly however this is changing in the name of fairness. The hard worker is being robbed of his well deserved earnings and those who do not take risk, those who do not work 60-80 hour weeks are being rewarded for the hard work of others. Slowly the work ethic of Americans is being destroyed by the propagation of socialist policies and big government.
Beyond the economic implications of leftist propaganda are the civil liberties that must be surrendered. All forms of individualism must be given up for communism to work. The right to personal property must be surrendered. The rights to freedom of speech must be taken. The rights to your very life are surrendered, for the greater good. You no longer are of importance, only the greater good of the whole. It is with this twisted philosophy that the Soviets were able to kill more of their own people than Hitler; Even worse than the soviets in committing genocide were the communists in China.
We cannot let those who would usurp the power of the people in the name of the people determine the future course of our country. We must fight to preserve the democratic process and checks afforded by the constitution, and hold those who would trample these in the name of progress accountable. Vote your conscience, but think before you vote.
